Like all good IT professional, I have too much hardware….If you have read the front page, you will have realised by now that I almost exclusively run linux and derivatives in my house.
A quick overview might be of use:
1. Laptops
- Apple PowerBook Aluminium
PPC G4 1.67GHz 15″ - my main machine for the daily dose of websurfing, emailing and other web-related antics
runs the obligatory OS X - it just works! - Acer Travelmate 2403
Celeron M 1.5 14.1″ and 2Gb of RAM - my ‘hacking’ machine. Runs Linux and everything just works out-of-the-box as they say. I am fooling with it for everything python and perl. If I need to compile, it does it just fine.
2. Desktops
All my desktops are custom built by my good self. I used to have a few Compaq/HP but they were so obsolete that I got rid of them.
- AMD64 3.4GHz - 1Gb RAM
- Athlon MP 2x 1.8GHz - 1.5Gb RAM
- Intel Dual-Core 2x 3.4GHz - 2Gb RAM
- Sun UltraSparc 10 - 440Mhz - 1Gb Ram
- Apple Mac Cube
The perfect incarnation of Apple design. A very nice web console
3. Backend
- Cobalt Raq4
- Sun Netra X1
- AMD Sempron 3Ghz - 1Gb RAM
Summary:
Yes! I have too much hardware and not enough time on my hands to deal with everything.
